Work

What we build, and what we leave alone.

The same shapes come up again and again. Here are the ones we build most often, the hours they typically carry, and the part of each process that stays with a person.

Trades and field services

8-12 hrs / wk

Enquiries arrive by phone, email, and a web form. Someone re-types each one into the quoting tool, sends the quote, and remembers to chase it. Won jobs get re-typed again onto a job sheet, then a third time into the invoice.

What gets built

  • Every enquiry lands in one place, already formatted
  • Quote drafted from the enquiry, sent on approval
  • Two automatic follow-ups, stopped the moment they reply
  • Won job flows to the job sheet and the invoice untouched

Stays human Pricing the job, and deciding which work to take.

Wholesale and distribution

10-15 hrs / wk

Orders come in as PDFs and emails in a dozen formats. They are keyed into the system by hand, stock is checked in a second place, and the customer is updated in a third.

What gets built

  • Order documents read and turned into system orders
  • Stock checked as the order lands, shortfalls flagged early
  • Customer updated automatically at each stage
  • Exceptions routed to a person instead of failing silently

Stays human Anything with a shortfall, a credit issue, or a special price.

Professional services

6-10 hrs / wk

New clients trigger the same twelve steps every time: engagement letter, folder setup, system access, kickoff scheduling, and a monthly report someone assembles by hand.

What gets built

  • Onboarding steps fire in sequence from one form
  • Documents generated and sent for signature
  • Monthly report assembled from source systems
  • Anything overdue surfaces before the client notices

Stays human The advice, the relationship, and what goes in the report.

Where we say no

Three things we will not automate.

Most of what goes wrong with automation is someone automating the wrong thing. These are the ones we turn down, including when a client asks for them.

Anything that needs your judgement

Pricing, hiring, what work to take, what to say when something has gone wrong. If a decision needs a person who knows the business, it keeps one.

Customer messages that go out unread

Assistants draft, people approve. We will not build something that emails your customers without a human seeing it first.

A process nobody has fixed yet

Automating a broken process makes it break faster. If the workflow itself is the problem, we will say so before quoting a build.

Your process

Yours probably looks like one of these.

Tell us the process on a call and we will tell you which shape it is, roughly what it carries in hours, and whether it is worth automating at all.
